    Research Summary

In my current research I am focusing on the biology and treatment of glioma using in vitro and in vivo models. Specific areas of research include: 1) studies of the extracellular matrix in the brain and its role in glioma invasion; 2) evaluation of the cellular entry and cellular localization of chlorotoxin, a scorpion derived 36 amino acid peptide designated as TM601 in glioma and other tumor cells.(TM601 was tested in Phase II clinical trials in adult recurrent glioma and in Phase I in various other tumors);and 3) evaluation of thermo-responsive double packaged system for localized delivery of therapeutics to glioma and other tumors such as ovarian carcinoma.
